Apple Fonts Installer

Download and install Apple fonts on Linux systems. Supports choosing from 8 fonts with an interactive menu.

Forked from MohamedElashri/apple-fonts, with bug fixes and new features.

Available Fonts

Font Description
SF Pro Apple's primary sans-serif typeface
SF Compact Compact variant of SF Pro
SF Mono Monospaced font
SF Arabic Arabic script font
SF Armenian Armenian script font
SF Georgian Georgian script font
SF Hebrew Hebrew script font
NY (New York) Serif typeface

The script displays a selection menu — install individually or all at once.

Requirements

  • 7z (from p7zip or 7zip)
  • curl
  • sudo privileges (fonts are installed system-wide)

Usage

# Clone the repo
git clone https://git.zerohyh.top/zeroHYH/apple-fonts.git
cd apple-fonts

# Run the script
bash install.sh

Or run directly:

curl -sL https://git.zerohyh.top/zeroHYH/apple-fonts/raw/branch/main/install.sh | bash

Selection Example

Available Apple fonts:
  1) SF-Pro
  2) SF-Compact
  3) SF-Mono
  4) SF-Arabic
  5) SF-Armenian
  6) SF-Georgian
  7) SF-Hebrew
  8) NY

Enter font numbers to install (e.g. 1 2 3), or 'a' for all:

Install Location

Fonts are installed to /usr/share/fonts/applefonts/. The font cache is automatically refreshed via fc-cache after installation.

Changes from Upstream

  • Fixed directory name mismatch when 7z extracts Apple DMG archives
  • Added interactive font selection menu
  • Added all 8 fonts (added Armenian, Georgian, Hebrew)
  • Subshell isolation for download/extract to prevent directory state issues
  • Use find *.ttf *.otf to locate font files instead of relying on fixed paths
  • Auto-refresh font cache after installation (fc-cache -fv)
